All District Schools Will Feature Events Friday, November 10 to Honor Service Members
We are looking forward to celebrating Veterans Day all across Central 301 this November. Our soldiers deserve our gratitude and appreciation for putting the protection of our democracy first. We’re excited and honored to thank our area Veterans with celebrations at our district schools all throughout the day.
Please review the following schedule of events for Veterans Day 2023:
CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL – VETERANS DAY BREAKFAST (7:00 AM)
At 7:00, we will host Veterans for a breakfast at Central High School to be followed by a ceremony honoring them beginning at 8:00 AM. The ceremony will be complete with a performance from our student chorus, and the Big Blue Band of Pride drumline in the Central High School Auditorium. In addition, our Central High School television production staff will stream the event, and you can find it HERE. The community is welcome to attend, however, we ask you to register using this LINK.
COUNTRY TRAILS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL(8:30 AM)
Breakfast —- A school wide assembly begins at 9:30. Veterans who volunteered to visit classrooms afterwards will go and read a story to a class for an hour after the assembly.
PRAIRIE VIEW GRADE SCHOOL (8:45 AM)
At 8:45, The PVGS PTO will provide donuts and coffee to Veterans in the cafeteria. That will be followed by an all-school assembly in the gym in which Cub Scouts Pack #38 will carry the flag. Plus, there will be performances from each grade level and our CMS pep band.
HOWARD B. THOMAS GRADE SCHOOL (9:00 AM)
HBT has invited local Veterans for an all-school assembly beginning at 9:45 in the HBT gymnasium featuring the Veteran’s, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and the Central High School Pep Band. A breakfast for Veterans will take place at 9:00 AM but you must RSVP to school officials ahead of time.
LILY LAKE GRADE SCHOOL (9:30 AM)
Lily Lake Grade School has invited local Veterans to join them for an all school assembly at 9:30 AM. Student Advisory is working hard to create a heartfelt experience to honor members in our community for their service. Students throughout the building will have handmade gifts to express their gratitude.
PRAIRIE KNOLLS MIDDLE SCHOOL (1:30 PM)
Prairie Knolls Middle School has invited Veterans from the community into the Falcon’s Nest to be recognized and celebrated by students and staff. Beginning at 1:30, Veteran’s will have the opportunity to attend a reception with beverages and snacks beginning at 1:30. The reception will be followed by an all-school assembly beginning at 2:00 PM. The assembly will feature performances by the PKMS Band and Choir.
CENTRAL MIDDLE SCHOOL (1:40 PM)
CMS will host an afternoon reception for Veterans with coffee and cookies starting at 1:40 PM. That will be followed by an all-school assembly at 2:00 PM. It will feature performances by our Central Middle School 8th Grade band and choir as well as remarks from guest speaker – Jason Johnston.
