Dear Central 301 Families & Staff:

This message is to provide you with information regarding a viral TikTok post receiving national attention and is not intended to be a cause for alarm in Central 301.  Our district was made aware of a circulating TikTok post regarding nationwide “school shooting and bomb threats for every school in the USA even elementary” that will supposedly take place on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021.

As we do with all incoming information related to safety & security, we investigated the matter and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there is no information to suggest any specific local threat.

At the same time, the safety of our students and staff is our priority. We will continue to be vigilant, and encourage you to be vigilant as well and report any suspicious activity to the school or to law enforcement. Please know that the District and school administration, along with our local law enforcement partners, will continue to monitor the situation and respond proactively to safety concerns.

We are committed to keeping our schools a safe place for learning, and we will work together to continue to keep it that way. Please don’t hesitate to contact your school principal if you have any questions or concerns.

In partnership,

Todd Stirn

Superintendent
