Action Needed to Request Change to Learning Model

Central Logo

We appreciate your patience and feedback as we continue to work on a plan to allow students to return to full in-person instruction in April. Our plans are nearing completion and we are hopeful that we will be able to accommodate requests from our families to make changes to their students’ learning model for the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Please understand that in many cases (especially at the elementary level) a change from remote to in-person instruction or from hybrid to remote instruction will likely result in a change to the student’s teacher(s).

On Friday we shared surveys with our families so they could indicate what their preference would be for in-person or remote instruction for their students if we were able to return to full in-person learning. The purpose of this survey was to better understand the needs of our families to aid us in our planning. It was due to these responses that we adjusted our plan to try to allow our remote students to shift to in-person learning. As of this morning we have received responses for approximately 61% of our students. In many cases, however, we received multiple responses for individual students, often with contradictory information, thereby making it difficult for us to get true numbers for these changes.

While we continue to work toward meeting the schedule change accommodations, to shift to the increased in-person learning model, we are at a point in this process where we need to have concrete information in order to finalize our plans, which we will do next week. As such, we will require all families who wish to make a change to their student’s learning model (either switching from hybrid to remote or from remote to in-person) to complete a Remote/In-Person Change Request form in their Skyward Parent Portal (click HERE to access Skyward). This form should ONLY be completed for those wishing to make a change. If you do not want to make a change to your student’s learning model, do not complete this form. Responses are due by Friday, March 19th, at 12:00 noon. These decisions will be final and further requests to make a change will not be accepted without medical documentation.

We continue to appreciate the feedback, flexibility, patience, and support we have received from our school community. We will continue to work towards our shared goal of a return to full in-person learning and we will keep you updated as more information is available.
