Plan for CMS Students at CHS
We look forward to seeing our students tomorrow at Central High School! Thank you for your flexibility during this challenging situation.
We are excited to have your students experience Central High School through this unusual experience and be the inaugural group to open the new wing of the high school. We are working diligently to make sure that we keep consistencies in our students’ day; therefore, there will be no change to your child’s daily schedule (only the location). Lunch will take place in a designated location within the building for Central Middle School students only. We will not be combining these students with high school students. You may want to share this information with your students so that they are aware. We will also be communicating the lunch plan to students tomorrow, and students will follow the same lunch menu as Central High School, (please see the menu HERE). Additionally, please talk with your student regarding the linked maps of locations available here: 1st floor, 2nd floor, Building Map. Students can use these documents to assist in navigating through their day tomorrow. Please know that administration and staff will be present and available to assist students with any questions they may have.
Bus pick up and drop off times will not change. We encourage families to have their students ride the bus to prevent a longer line at drop off in the morning. Currently, the traffic in the morning is congested and, if you do choose to drop off or pick up, please understand that there will be a delay and you will need to plan accordingly. If you choose to drop off and pick up your students, you should do so at Door 10, located towards the back of the building. Please refer to the traffic flow map provided to familiarize yourself with the route.
Families should continue to call the CMS main line at 847-464-6000 to report absences and communicate with staff.
Students will keep their belongings with them throughout the school day. Backpacks will be permitted. Students can come to CMS to pick up any supplies they will need for the next week this afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. As a reminder, students will not need their PE uniforms or band instruments. Items students should bring with them tomorrow include their Chromebooks, writing utensils/pencil cases, and folders for their classes, along with any other items that assist them in completing their coursework.
We recognize that these changes can cause anxiety for your students. We are hopeful that this information provides you with details that promote discussions at home to minimize their anxiety. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me. Also, please note, I will be available from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. during the student supply pick-up time should you want to check in with me.
Sincerely,
Alex Paszt
