“We Are Forever Grateful”
Lily Lake Students Honor Veterans with Heartfelt Tributes
Those four words, written by a fourth grader at Lily Lake Grade School, perfectly captured the spirit of this year’s Veterans Day Celebration — a morning filled with gratitude, pride, and community.
Students and staff welcomed local veterans for a special breakfast and assembly, complete with performances from the school band, heartfelt poems, and letters of thanks from each grade level. From kindergartners handing out handmade cards to fifth graders reading letters aloud, every moment reflected appreciation for the service and sacrifice of those who have worn the uniform.
Remarks from principal Andy Gibbs, the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “March of the Armed Forces,” and the standing recognition of veterans by branch made for a powerful ceremony — ending with photos of students alongside their honored guests.
Thank you to our staff, families, and students for making this day such a memorable tribute to our veterans.
