Principal Message
Hello Lily Lake Families,
Our students have already started “diving into” the school routines, expectations, and classroom activities. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and energy as we kick off this academic year. Thank you to all that attended our parent nights, it was a great opportunity to hear from our staff and learn about their classrooms for the year.

We have some exciting events and important activities to share with you:

1. Fit & Fun Run
Mark your calendars for our upcoming PTC Fundraiser: Fit & Fun Run! This event is not only a great way for our students to stay active but also a perfect opportunity for our school community to come together and support Lily Lake. It’s happening (weather permitting) on September 20th, and families are able to join us for a fun-filled morning of fitness and community spirit. More details and registration information will be sent home soon.

2. Homecoming Week – Show Your School Spirit!
Homecoming Week is just around the corner, and we’re excited to celebrate our school and district! We will have themed dress-up days throughout the week. More information on each day will be sent home closer to homecoming week. It’s a wonderful time to come together and show our school spirit. We encourage everyone to participate and make this week memorable for our students.

3. Safety Drills
Ensuring the safety of our students is a top priority. Starting this month we will be conducting our pre-planned emergency drills. Students will be practicing where to evacuate in case of a fire as well as steps taken in the event of an intruder.  It is important to reiterate to your student(s) that they need to take these drills seriously so they know what to do in the event of an emergency.

4. Half-Day Schedule – No Lunch Service
Please note that on half days, lunch will not be served. We encourage your student to eat a well balanced breakfast in the morning and bring a snack while at school. For a list of upcoming half days and teacher institute days, please refer to the school calendar.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to a great year ahead and are excited to work together to make it successful for our students!

~ Erica Snyder

Our school character program not only emphasizes positive behavior throughout the school day, but also builds staff and student relationships and comradery.  The character traits we are focusing on include:
P – persevere (yellow)
R – responsible choices (red)
I – Inclusion (purple – everyone wears purple on the last day of the month)
D – demonstrate fairness (blue)
E – earn respect (green)
Students and staff have been randomly chosen into each character trait color. Students will remain on the same team through their time at Lily Lake. We appreciate PTC’s support by providing each kindergarten & new student to Lily Lake with a t-shirt specific with their character trait and color. We ask that students wear their character shirt every Tuesday and the color purple on the last day of the month!
During the school day, students can earn tickets throughout the building that will help their teams earn points. To recognize students who are earning tickets for their team, the office staff will draw four names each Friday and an eblast will be sent out. Points will be counted each week to determine the winning team at the end of the month. The winning team will earn an incentive such as pajama day, team game, etc.

NURSE’S NOTES: Health Records ReminderPlease continue to send any Health Records to the office at your earliest convenience. The following records are required for school attendance:

Exclusion date is October 15th, 2024. By state law, students will be considered not in compliance and may be excluded from school if physical and immunization and vision records have not been received by that date. If you have any questions, please reach out to Bridget Meltesen, Lily Lake Nurse, at bridget.meltesen@central301.net or call the office at 847-464-6011.

Bathroom Accidents/Spills/Change of Clothing
Bathroom accidents, playground mud, spilled milk, bloody noses, etc. sometimes happen at school. Parents are encouraged to send in a change of clothing and a supply of wet wipes to be kept in a student’s backpack or cubby in case clothing is soiled during the school day. We have a limited amount of clean underwear and clothing available in the office, but a parent may be called to bring in a change of clothing to the school if needed.

Clothing Donations
We can always use extra pairs of pants, shirts, socks, and underwear in the office. Sweatpants, leggings, and other elasticised bottoms work well. As you switch over your wardrobes as your student grows and/or the weather changes, we would be happy to accept any new or gently used clothing donations. All sizes from 5T up to small adults are needed and much appreciated.

Curriculum Night
Please join us on September 26th at 6 pm for our curriculum night! Throughout the building, families can participate in different rooms hosting various activities and information as well as visit the book fair in the library. More information will be communicated in the future. We hope to see you then!

After School Enrichment Programs
Starting in October, classes will be available and held at Lily Lake for students who would like to participate in various after school programs. These programs include: chess, art and STEAM.  By participating in these programs, students can develop new interests, gain new perspectives, and make new friends! Young Rembrandts flyer will be pushed out soon. Please see attached flyers for more information, costs, and how to sign up!
