📸 #DayOne301 Has Arrived!
From our youngest kindergartners holding their signs to our Class of 2026 in overalls marking their last first day, the start of the 2025–26 school year was packed with excitement, smiles, cool signs and plenty of hugs. More than 5,200 students are back in class, ready for another great year!
👋 A New Interim Leader Joins Central 301
Welcome to Dr. Tim Kilrea, who was appointed this week as Co-Interim Superintendent alongside Dr. Kyle Schumacher. Dr. Kilrea brings decades of leadership experience and will help guide Central 301 during our ongoing superintendent search.
📊 Budget Blueprint Continues
Our series breaking down district finances is in full swing. This week we spotlighted the Operations & Maintenance Fund — the behind-the-scenes work that keeps classrooms, playgrounds, and hallways running smoothly every day.

🍦 Popsicles with the Principals
HBT welcomed incoming Kindergarteners for a fun evening of exploring the school, meeting staff, and enjoying popsicles on August 13. Students found classrooms, parents connected, and our newest Twisters started building community ahead of their big first day.
🚧 Heads Up, Country Trails Families
Beginning Monday 8/25, the City of Elgin will begin resurfacing work in the Highland Woods neighborhood near Country Trails Elementary. Expect slower traffic, possible delays for buses, and be sure walkers take extra care near construction zones.
