Here’s a look at what’s happening across Central 301 this week:
đź“… New Leadership at 301
The Central 301 Board of Education approved Dr. Griff Powell and Dr. Kyle Schumacher as interim co-superintendents. They will alternate time at the district office, providing leadership and support through June 2026.
đź“š Carl Pays a Visit
Carl the Cougar stopped by Country Trails to spread school spirit and hand out Cougar Pride tickets. He visited classrooms, encouraged students to wear their house colors, and brought energy to this vibrant tradition. Plenty of smiles and high-fives all around.
🏆 CMS Champions Walk
It’s been a winning season at Central Middle School. The Scholastic Team claimed the NCJC Tournament Championship, the Girls Basketball Team capped off a 19-1 season with a conference title, and wrestlers Anthony Rigler and Brock Almgren are heading to the IESA State Tournament.
🌎 Coming Together at Culture Blast
Culture Blast 2025 brought students, families, and staff together for a district-wide celebration of diversity. The event featured exhibits, live performances, and international cuisine. A highlight came from our HBT students, who performed cultural dances in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
🎠Beowulf on a Budget Opening Night
The PKMS production of Beowulf on a Budget delivered creativity, humor, and a little duct tape on opening night. If you missed it, there’s one more show tonight at 7:00 PM!! Don’t miss this fun and action-packed performance!
🔢 Prairie View Math Wizards
Prairie View students finished second in Illinois for the Prodigy math competition in both January and February. They were recognized with stickers and bracelets for their success. A huge shoutout to Miss Brock for leading this initiative—check out more here.
đź“– Read Across America Celebration
Students across Central 301 celebrated Read Across America with guest readers, themed dress-up days, and plenty of Dr. Seuss fun. The love of reading was on full display in classrooms across the district. See more highlights here.
🗳️ Early Voting Begins
Early voting for the April 1 Consolidated Election starts today. Make your voice heard and plan ahead by checking out where and when you can vote. You can learn about what precinct you live in here.
