Dear Central Middle School Families:

We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we continue to work to resolve the well failure at Central Middle School. Our Facilities team has been working in conjunction with multiple agencies, including the Kane County Health Department, and it has been determined that we will be unable to bring students and staff back to CMS until after winter break.

We are currently working with CMS and Central High School (CHS) administration to develop a plan to bring CMS students and staff to CHS, utilizing the new 20-classroom addition, beginning on Friday, December 13th, and continuing through Friday, December 20th. We are working diligently to provide a schedule for our students and staff that provides an opportunity for our students to have a positive and meaningful educational experience. Please understand that this will require us to make adjustments to students’ schedules and coursework.

In order for our staff to be able to prepare for this unprecedented situation and best meet the needs of our students, classes will be cancelled for CMS students tomorrow, Thursday, December 12th.

Unfortunately, all after school activities and athletics that were scheduled at Central Middle School will need to be cancelled through next week.

We will allow families to come to CMS tomorrow, Thursday, December 12th, between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. to pick up any items that your students may need to resume school on Friday, December 13th, such as backpacks and daily school supplies. Please note, students in band will not use their instruments while attending classes at CHS. Additionally, students will not change into PE uniforms for physical education classes.

We recognize that losing three days of instruction is far from ideal. We assure you that we are doing everything within our abilities to minimize the disruption to our students’ education. We have full confidence that continued quality instruction will occur despite the challenging circumstances. We will continue to keep you updated as we have more information regarding the educational experience for your student over the next week.

We thank our families, staff, and administration for their continued demonstration of flexibility and understanding.
