SALUTE TO SERVICE AT CENTRAL 301 FOR VETERANS DAY

All District Schools Will Feature Events This Friday to Honor Service Members

We are looking forward to celebrating Veterans Day all across Central 301 Friday. Our soldiers deserve our gratitude and appreciation for putting the protection of our democracy first. We’re excited and honored to thank our area Veterans with celebrations at our district schools all throughout the day.

Please review the following schedule of events for Veterans Day 2022:

CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL – VETERANS DAY BREAKFAST (7:30 AM)
At 7:30, we will host Veterans for a breakfast at Central High School to be followed by a ceremony honoring them beginning at 8:00 AM. The ceremony will be complete with a performance from our student chorus, and the Big Blue Band of Pride drumline in the Central High School Auditorium. In addition, our Central High School television production staff will broadcast the event, via live stream. The link to the live stream can be found HERE. PRAIRIE VIEW GRADE SCHOOL (8:30 AM)
At 8:30, The PVGS PTO will provide donuts and coffee to Veterans in the cafeteria. That will be followed by an all-school assembly in the gym in which Cub Scouts Pack #38  will carry the flag. Plus, there will be performances from each grade level.
PRAIRIE KNOLLS MIDDLE SCHOOL (8:55 AM)
The Veterans Day Assembly at Prairie Knolls will feature 7th Grade Math Teacher 1LT Brenda Olson, U.S. Army and her husband Maj. (Ret.) Stan Olson, U.S. Army. They will be speaking to students about their service. 6th Grade will begin at 8:55 AM and 7th Grade will follow at 9:50 AM.
HOWARD B. THOMAS GRADE SCHOOL (9:15 AM)
HBT has invited local Veterans for a breakfast with their HBT student at 9:15 in the library.  The HBT PTO will be providing coffee, danishes, and other small finger foods for the Veteran and their HBT student.   Following the Veteran breakfast will be an all-school assembly beginning at 9:45 in the HBT gymnasium featuring the Veteran’s, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Central Middle School 8th Grade Band and Choir.
COUNTRY TRAILS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (9:30 AM)
A school wide assembly begins at 9:30. Veterans who volunteered to visit classrooms afterwards will go and read a story to a class for an hour after the assembly.
LILY LAKE GRADE SCHOOL (9:30 AM)
Lily Lake Grade School has invited local Veterans to join them for an all school assembly at 9:30 AM. Boy Scout Pack 38 is kicking off the assembly with the Color Guard and Pledge of Allegiance. Students will then present gifts of cards, poems and letters to our Veterans. The assembly will conclude with the 8th grade choir singing their rendition of Traveling Soldier by The Chicks. A small reception will take place immediately following the assembly. 
CENTRAL MIDDLE SCHOOL (1:40 PM)
CMS will host an afternoon reception for Veterans with coffee and cookies starting at 1:40 PM. That will be followed by an all-school assembly at 2:00 PM. It will feature performances by our Central Middle School 8th Grade band and choir as well as remarks from Jason Johnston.
