📰 301 Budget Blueprint: Guarding Our Schools — Tort Fund (Fund 80)
In our final entry of the 301 Budget Blueprint series, we’re highlighting the Tort Fund (Fund 80) — a fund designed to reduce risk and ensure we’re protected when it matters most.
This fund doesn’t fund classrooms, books, or buses — but it’s essential. It supports the systems that help Central 301 operate securely and with confidence.
What Does the Tort Fund Cover?
- Insurance coverage for property and casualty
- Workers’ compensation
- Unemployment costs
- Legal fees associated with the protection and operation of the district
Where Does the Money Come From?
- Local tax levy
- Interest income
By maintaining a healthy Tort Fund, we ensure that any legal or liability issue that may arise doesn’t impact our ability to educate students or support staff. It’s a proactive approach to financial responsibility.
