Construction Update: Traffic Impacts Near Country Trails

We want to make you aware of a road construction project that will directly affect travel in and out of Country Trails Elementary School.

On behalf of the City of Elgin, Schroeder Asphalt Services, Inc. and their subcontractors are scheduled to begin resurfacing work in the Highland Woods neighborhood starting Monday, August 25 (weather permitting).

The project will impact several nearby streets. While none of the roads are expected to fully close, there will be times when traffic is reduced to a single lane with flaggers directing vehicles. This may create delays during arrival and dismissal at Country Trails, and could also impact afternoon bus drop-off times. Families are asked to allow for extra time and understand that buses may not always arrive at their usual time. In addition, students who walk to school should use extra caution when traveling near construction areas.

🔹 Important Notes for Families

  • This is a City of Elgin project.
  • Expect occasional congestion and slower traffic flow around the school.
  • Please plan to allow extra time for drop-off and pick-up.
  • Walkers: remind your child to use extra caution near construction areas.
  • Bus Riders: please note that construction may cause occasional delays.

We understand the timing is not ideal as we begin a new school year, but we will continue to monitor the situation closely and communicate any significant updates to families. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and care in keeping our students safe during this work.
