The following is a statement from the Central Community Unit School District 301 Board of Education:

“The Board of Education and Dr. Mongan have mutually agreed to a leadership transition, and Dr. Mongan will no longer serve as Superintendent, effective February 3, 2025. The Board of Education is striving for transparency, collaboration, and shared decision-making. Our vision focuses on a team-oriented approach- one that values the voices of teachers, administrators, building leadership, the superintendent, the Board of Education, and the broader community.  As such the board would like to share the following interim plan:

  • Dr. Matt Haug has been named the temporary interim superintendent
  • The Board of Education will collaborate with the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) to secure a long-term interim superintendent in the coming month.
  • The current Board of Education will help to transition the incoming board that will be elected in April.  The new Board of Education that is elected in April will work to interview and hire the next superintendent with the help of students, teachers, administration and the 301 community.

As we navigate this transition, we ask for patience and understanding from our administration, staff, educators, students, and the broader 301 community. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your building administration. We are committed to addressing any issues and ensuring a smooth transition.”
