We are looking forward to celebrating Veterans Day all across our Central 301 schools on Monday, November 11. Our service men and women deserve our gratitude and appreciation for putting the protection of our democracy first. We’re looking forward to thanking our area Veterans with celebrations at our district schools.
Please review the following schedule of events for Veterans Day 2024:
CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL (7:00 AM)
AT 7:00 AM, we will be hosting an appreciation breakfast that allows us to celebrate and thank our veterans for their service. This event will feature live music performances by the Big Blue Band of Pride drumline, CHS chorale and chorus. Visitors to CHS should bring their ID to check into our building.
COUNTRY TRAILS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (8:30 AM)
We are honoring our Veterans this year with a supply drive for a local VA hospital in the Chicago area. All supplies must be new and in original packaging. We are inviting Veterans to attend a ceremony and breakfast in their honor on Monday. The continental breakfast, sponsored by the PTO, begins at 8:30 AM with the assembly to follow at 9:30 AM. Veterans are also invited to read a story or speak to a class at Country Trails after the assembly. If you have a Veteran in your family who would like to join us for any of these activities on Veterans Day, please fill this out Veterans Day 2024 RSVP.
PRAIRIE VIEW GRADE SCHOOL (8:30 AM)
At 8:30 AM, The PVGS PTO will provide breakfast to Veterans and their family members in the cafeteria. That will be followed by an all-school assembly in the gym in which Cub Scouts Pack #38 will carry the flag. Plus, there will be performances from each grade level as well as the “Just Make It Happen” music ensemble.
LILY LAKE GRADE SCHOOL (9:15 AM)
Local Veterans will join students and staff at Lily Lake Grade School starting at 9:15 AM for a continental breakfast hosted by student advisory followed by an all school assembly. Our Veterans will be presented with gifts of cards, poems and letters created by our Lily Lake students along with music played by our 8th grade band. The assembly will conclude with the playing of Marches of the Armed Forces.
HOWARD B. THOMAS GRADE SCHOOL (9:45 AM)
HBT has invited local Veterans to celebrate Veterans Day with the Twister Community. Veterans are welcome to begin checking in at Door 1 at 8:45 AM, a continental breakfast will be provided on behalf of the HBT PTO, for the Veteran and their guest upon arrival in the HBT Cafeteria. At 9:45 AM, Veterans and the HBT student body will transition to the gym where they will enjoy a special assembly to honor the Veterans. Students will sing some songs, Veterans will be honored, Cub Scouts will be present, and a band will perform.
PRAIRIE KNOLLS MIDDLE SCHOOL (1:30 PM)
PKMS will host an all school assembly at 2:00 PM, where the PK administration and Student Council will individually recognize each of the Veterans in attendance for their service. The PKMS Band and Choir will perform and a Veterans Day speech will be made by the PKMS Student Council president.
CENTRAL MIDDLE SCHOOL (1:40 PM)
CMS will host an afternoon reception for Veterans with coffee and cookies starting at 1:40 PM. It will be followed by an all-school assembly at 2:00 PM. The assembly will feature performances by our 8th grade band and choir as well as remarks from Jason Johnston, Sgt., US Army, retired.
