CMS Track Athletes Shine at IESA State Finals

State medals, school records, and a 9th Place team finish highlight memorable weekend in East Peoria
It was a memorable weekend in East Peoria for Central Middle School track and field as Rockets athletes delivered an impressive showing at the IESA State Finals. Competing against some of the top middle school athletes in Illinois, Central 301 student-athletes brought home multiple state medals, earned podium finishes in relay competition, and rewrote the record book with several new school records.
The weekend was highlighted by a 9th place team finish for the 8th grade girls, marking the program’s third top 10 finish at state since the pandemic and the first back to back top 10 finishes in recent memory. For many student-athletes, it was a first experience competing on the state stage. For others, it was an opportunity to cap off their middle school careers with standout performances against the best competition in Illinois.
