CHS Students Earn Three Bronze Medals at SkillsUSA State Competition

Central High School students brought home three bronze medals from the SkillsUSA Illinois State Competition in Peoria, where they competed alongside approximately 5,000 students from across the state.

This marked Central’s fourth annual trip to the SkillsUSA state competition. Sixteen CHS students competed in a variety of categories, including Robotics, Engineering, Coding, Digital Cinema and Video Production, T-Shirt and Pin Design, and Interactive Application Video Game Development.

Central students earned bronze medals in three events:

  • Olivia Botruff and Maddy Folloso placed third in Digital Cinema for their three-minute short film, competing against 16 teams.
  • Ujwal Gurugubelli and Samvir Devineni placed third in Interactive Application Video Game Development after creating a playable video game and delivering a formal presentation.
  • Mark Cabaluna and Evan Kosobudski placed third in Video Production, where they filmed the event and created a one-minute hype video on site.

The competition challenged students to apply their technical, creative, and problem-solving skills under tight timelines and detailed guidelines.

Congratulations to all of our SkillsUSA competitors and medalists on a successful trip downstate.
