Attendance/Punctuality Expectations

Daily attendance is expected and required. Each day of summer school is equivalent to just over one week of instruction during the regular school year. Students interested in summer school must be able to commit to attending every day.

Students may miss ONE day of summer school for any reason during the 4-week term and will be dropped from the class if a second absence occurs. There is no differentiation between excused and unexcused absence reasons.

TARDIES and EARLY DISMISSALS will accumulate to be the equivalent of an absence.

  • Tardies or early dismissals under 30 minutes will each count as a quarter-day absence.
  • Tardies or early dismissals over 30 minutes will each count as a half-day absence.

Grades, Credits, Drops, and impact on 2026-2027 class schedule

Semester grades and credits for summer school classes will be issued in the same manner as classes taken during the regular school year.

After students successfully complete a class in summer school, they will be able to replace that class on their 2026-2027 schedule with an available option or with an AA, if not already in one.

If a class is dropped within the first TWO days of the summer term, no entry is made on the transcript/permanent record that the student was enrolled. If a class is dropped for any reason AFTER the first two days of the summer term, the course is recorded as a “W” for Withdrawn or “F” for Withdrawal Fail on the transcript, depending on the grade in progress at that time.
