CHS Testing Information: Save the Date

ACT April 2025


PSAT/NMSQT

The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary-Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Score Qualifying Test) is a standardized test that 11th graders take in October. Like the SAT, it measures the knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and math that students learn in the classroom—the same knowledge and skills your child needs to succeed in college and career. This exam is used as a qualifier for National Merit Scholarships which can range in value from $2500 or more. The top 1% of these students are then selected as National Merit Scholarship Finalists. 

This exam is voluntary and will be held on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024. The cost of the exam would be roughly $20. To register for the exam, please fill out this link. Upon filling out this form, a fee will be added to your Skyward Account.

Illinois Science Assessment (ISA)

The testing window begins March 1 until April 30, 2024. More details will be made available soon. All juniors will take the required Illinois Science Assessment (ISA).

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude and Battery (ASVAB)

ASVAB – October 7th, 2024- Available to Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a broad-based career exploration tool that tests a students aptitudes in various areas. The results can help students narrow down future career interests. This is also the test that all branches of the military use to determine career placement for active military members as well as rank upon entering the military. 

It is important to note that most people think of the ASVAB as a military entrance exam. However, it can also provide a student with a career interest survey and help guide them to a career plan that best fits their personality.

This exam is voluntary and will be held on Monday, October 7th, 2024. The cost of the exam would is free. To register for the exam, please fill out this link. The deadline to register is Sep 27, 2024.
