Meet the Principal

Welcome to Howard B. Thomas Grade School 

Kim Lewis (‘01) has been Principal of Howard B. Thomas Grade School since 2021 after spending 16 years in a variety of roles across Central 301. She started at Central Middle School in 2005 and worked as a math teacher at both CMS and Prairie Knolls Middle School. Her move into administration included stops as the Student Services Coordinator at PKMS before spending seven years as an Assistant Principal at Central High School.

Ms. Lewis grew up in Plato Center and attended Central 301 schools from 1st grade through graduation in the Class of 2001, experiencing our district growth first hand. Her education resume includes a BA in Mathematics from Western Illinois University, and a pair of MA degrees from Northern Illinois University (Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Leadership). She is married with two daughters and the Lewis family lives in Sycamore.
