Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are excited to have your students in our schools and are looking forward to a great year!

Our teachers and staff have been busy preparing for your students by writing lesson plans, decorating classrooms, preparing materials, and making sure our buildings are ready for a new year. The transportation department is busy finalizing routes for our fleet of 78 buses, which will transport approximately 4450 students from across the 87 square mile district boundaries on the first day of school.

We have completed a number of projects over the summer to improve district facilities. Central High School and Prairie View Grade School received new roofing, and air conditioning was installed in the gymnasium at Prairie Knolls Middle School. The first floor wing of Central High School was renovated to resemble the new addition and to provide additional lab space. These capital projects are in addition to the regular maintenance schedule that included deep cleaning, new paint and carpet in many of our classrooms and facilities.

As a district we continue to offer a greater variety of opportunities for students to be academically challenged and prepared for post high school career and college opportunities. The district is expanding its certificated Career Technology Education (CTE) programs this year along with expanding access for students to experience dual credit and Advanced Placement coursework during their high school years.  At the elementary level we are introducing a new math series this year and will offer accelerated math opportunities in 4th and 5th grade beginning in the 2020-2021 school year.

Our enrollment is growing on a daily basis and the total number of Central students has grown by over 100 students since school ended in June. Families continue to seek homes in our boundaries in order to send their children to our schools, which is a testament to the quality of our teachers, support staff, related services and instruction in the district.

The first day of school for students in grades 1 through 12 is Wednesday, August 14th and students entering Kindergarten and early childhood programs will start on August 19th. We look forward to greeting your child at the bus stop and at the classroom door. If you have not completed registration or residency, please make sure to contact your school to do so.

We are pleased that you are a part of the Central family this year. Thank you for entrusting your students to us. It is our pleasure and honor to equip them for a promising future.
